National Teacher of the Year
Jahana Hayes
Jahana Hayes was a single, teenage mom who went on to become a high school history teacher
and then the 2016 National Teacher of the Year.
Her story is one of service, of focusing on what her students needed, and now, as a Congresswoman,
focusing on what the people of her district need, whether they are veterans, small business owners, students, parents, or educators.
Congresswoman Hayes is one of the few classroom teachers on the House Education Committee, making her service
even more important and valuable to every student, parent, and educator in America.
Like so many educators, Jahana Hayes is not focused on partisan fights or political games. She works across the aisle, with Democrats and Republicans, to support common sense solutions and deliver what her constituents most need.
Unfortunately, Congresswoman Hayes has been unfairly attacked in this campaign by dark-money special interests and
extremists who put partisanship first. They’ve criticized her for supporting:
emergency financial aid to needy college students,
support for HBCU's and schools that serve deaf students,
help for special education teachers & service providers helping special education students and those with disabilities,
funding for Head Start, the breakthrough program that helps preschool kids from low-income families get ready for public school, and
school-provided meals for kids who would otherwise have gone hungry!
We’re taking action to support her, to make sure she gets to tell her own story, by running this ad.
